District Two Public Health is partnering with the Georgia Mountain Food Bank to offer free food distribution today.

The event will be held at the lower field at Allen Creek Soccer Complex on Allen Creek Road in Gainesville.

One package of food per car can be picked up between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. or until supplies run out.

District Two Public Health spokesman Dave Palmer said public health workers will also be there to assist anyone who is sick to register for an appointment for free testing for Covid-19.

Additionally, if you have at least two of the following symptoms you should also be tested. They include:

Palmer says if you have any of those symptoms now you should call 770- 531-5600 to schedule an appointment for the free testing in Gainesville.

The call center is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

You must have an appointment to be tested today at the food giveaway.

However, Palmer says if you don’t plan to drive to Gainesville today, you can still call your local health department to schedule a test if you have any of those symptoms.
