December Events at the Ritz

The Historic Ritz Theatre in Toccoa will play host to a number of special events in December and one of those began yesterday.

Back by popular demand are the Thursday Christmas movies at the Ritz. Upcoming movies include: Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors on December 9th, and Santa Buddies: The Legend of Santa Paws on December 16th. All movies and concessions are just $1 each and there are two showings at 10 A.M. and 7 P.M.S

This Saturday will feature Southeastern Young Artists at 7 P.M. featuring Grammy nominated violinist Benjamin Kronk from Montreal, Canada and three other artists. Southeastern Young Artists feature soloists, chamber musicians, and orchestral players from across the United States and Canada that perform throughout the Southeastern United States. Featuring music in the background Kronk explains the importance of this tour. “Southeastern Young Artists is a community focused music festival bringing high quality artists performing chamber music in different venues in the Southeast We are looking more into smaller towns for community based engagement through incredible high level performances with incredible musicians coming to town.”

The concert is part of the Night at the Ritz Series and sponsored in part through grants from The Georgia Council for the Arts and The National Endowment for the Arts. Friends of the Ritz, Inc is hosting their first fundraiser of the 2021-2022 Season by bringing award-winning entertainer, Katie Deal to the Historic Ritz Theatre for a Dolly Parton-inspired Christmas Show on Saturday, December 10th at 7pm.

Deal, along with her five-piece Nashville band, will perform a Holly Dolly Christmas, a show guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit. A Gainesville, Georgia-born artist and a Piedmont alumna, Katie is best known for her authentic country sound. She is the 2016 recipient of the Georgia Country Artist of the Year Award and an honored member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame.

As a recording artist and singer-songwriter, Katie has written and/or performed with top Nashville songwriters and has opened shows for country legends John Conlee, Sammy Kershaw, Collin Raye, B.J. Thomas, and Country Family Reunion (Bill Anderson, Jeannie Seely, T.G. Sheppard). Katie has performed with country icon, Loretta Lynn and is also a frequent guest vocalist with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra. Katie and her band were selected to be the featured entertainment for Georgia Public Broadcasting‘s Gala Event honoring Brenda Lee in 2019.
