Deal signs HB 769, increases Rural Hospital Tax Credit to 100 percent

House Bill 769 to receive Governor Nathan Deal’s signature tomorrow afternoon.

HB 769 will increase the Rural Hospital Tax Credit to 100 percent, adds a new CON provision for micro hospitals and offers additional flexibility for hospitals to use pharmaceutical remote order entry.

This new law gives Georgia taxpayers an incentive to donate to the rural hospitals by receiving a Georgia State Tax Credit equal to 100 percent of the donation.

Stephens County Hospital Foundation Director Pamela Jones told WNEG News about what the passing of HB 769 means to Stephens County Hospital.

“Governor Nathan Deal will sign House Bill 769 into law on Wednesday, May 2.  This will increase the rural hospital tax credit to 100 percent. Now this is great news for the donor. I know that people aren’t thinking about making a donation for a tax credit, with us just getting through with tax season, but this is first come first served. If you make a donation to us, then it will have an impact on a local level,” she said.

Jones added that not only do donations help Stephens County Hospital, they also reduce donors’ state tax liability.
