COVID cases slightly down in Stephens County

The spread of COVID-19 has slightly decreased in Stephens County.

According to the Department of Public Health, there have been 4,631 total cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County, since the start of the pandemic, an increase of 15 since WNEG’s report last week.

The DPH is reporting 111 confirmed COVID-related deaths in Stephens County, the same as last Wednesday’s report.

In the last two weeks, ending December 13, the DPH reports a total of 44 new cases in Stephens County.

For surrounding counties, Habersham County has 79 new cases in the last 2 weeks, Rabun County has 30, Banks County has 32, Franklin County 44, and Hart County has 33 new cases.

In Georgia, the DPH is reporting 1,298,505 total cases, an increase of 7,727 since WNEG’s report last week. The DPH also reports an increase of 149 deaths since WNEG’s report last Wednesday, bringing the total to 25,973 confirmed COVID-related deaths across the state of Georgia.

Additionally, anyone interested in receiving a COVID vaccine can do so at the Stephens County Health Department.

All Georgians over the age of 5 are now eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Booster doses of the vaccine are recommended for adults 18 and older who have completed their first series of vaccine.

Individuals who have symptoms of COVID-19 or who may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should get tested.
