COVID cases continue to increase in Stephens County

The spread of COVID-19 continues to increase in Stephens County.

According to the Department of Public Health, there have been 4,673 total cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County, since the start of the pandemic, an increase of 23 since WNEG’s report last week.

The DPH is reporting 114 confirmed COVID-related deaths in Stephens County, an increase of one since WNEG’s report last Thursday.

In the last two weeks, ending December 24, the DPH reports a total of 47 new cases in Stephens County.

For surrounding counties, Habersham County has 108 new cases in the last 2 weeks, Rabun County has 22, Banks County has 42, Franklin County 33, and Hart County has 28 new cases.

In Georgia, the DPH is reporting 1,339,502 total cases, an increase of 19,293 since WNEG’s report last week. The DPH also reports an increase of 95 deaths since WNEG’s report last Thursday, bringing the total to 26,239 confirmed COVID-related deaths across the state of Georgia.

Additionally, anyone interested in receiving a COVID vaccine can do so at the Stephens County Health Department.

All Georgians over the age of 5 are now eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Booster doses of the vaccine are recommended for adults 18 and older who have completed their first series of vaccine.

Individuals who have symptoms of COVID-19 or who may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should get tested.
