COVID cases continue to increase in Stephens County

The number of COVID cases continues to increase in Stephens County.

According to the Department of Public Health, there have been 4,367 total cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County, since the start of the pandemic, an increase of 36 since WNEG’s report on Tuesday.

The DPH is reporting 93 confirmed COVID-related deaths in Stephens County, the same as WNEG’s report earlier this week.

In the last two weeks, ending October 5, the DPH reports a total of 258 new cases in Stephens County.

For surrounding counties, Habersham County has 204 new cases in the last 2 weeks, Rabun County has 72, Banks County has 81, Franklin County 103, and Hart County has 58 new cases.

According to a recent report issued by District 2 Public Health, as of October 1, there have been 20,985 Stephens County residents who have received the vaccine.

Of those 11,102 (43 percent of the population) received the first dose, and 9,929 (39 percent of the population) are fully vaccinated.

In Georgia, the DPH is reporting 1,234,381 total cases, an increase of 8,711 since WNEG’s report on Tuesday. The DPH also reports an increase of 294 deaths since WNEG’s report earlier this week, bringing the total to 22,920 confirmed COVID-related deaths across the state of Georgia.
