COVID cases are up this week in Stephens County

The spread of COVID-19 continues to increase in Stephens County.

According to the Department of Public Health, there have been 4,645 total cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County, since the start of the pandemic, an increase of 14 since WNEG’s report last week.

The DPH is reporting 113 confirmed COVID-related deaths in Stephens County, an increase of two since WNEG’s report last Wednesday.

In the last two weeks, ending December 21, the DPH reports a total of 30 new cases in Stephens County.

For surrounding counties, Habersham County has 93 new cases in the last 2 weeks, Rabun County has 24, Banks County has 31, Franklin County 29, and Hart County has 21 new cases.

In Georgia, the DPH is reporting 1,317,209 total cases, an increase of 18,704 since WNEG’s report last week. The DPH also reports an increase of 171 deaths since WNEG’s report last Wednesday, bringing the total to 26,144 confirmed COVID-related deaths across the state of Georgia.

Additionally, anyone interested in receiving a COVID vaccine can do so at the Stephens County Health Department.

All Georgians over the age of 5 are now eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Booster doses of the vaccine are recommended for adults 18 and older who have completed their first series of vaccine.

Individuals who have symptoms of COVID-19 or who may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should get tested.
