COVID-19 cases continue to slow in Stephens County

The spread of COVID-19 continues to slow in Stephens and surrounding counties.

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting 124 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 5,888 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

In Stephens County there has been a total of 385 hospitalizations due to the virus since the start of the pandemic.

The latest report was released Tuesday afternoon.

In the last two weeks, ending March 8, the DPH reports a total of 22 new cases in Stephens County.

For surrounding counties, Habersham County has 24 new cases in the last two weeks, Rabun County has 15, Banks County has 13, Franklin County has 14, and Hart County has 44 new cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been a total of 1,916,379 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those 108,553 have been hospitalized and the total death count due to complications of the virus has now risen to 30,183.
