County to take Polar Express on the road in Stephens County

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will be spreading Christmas Cheer this week as they take the county-sponsored Polar Express through several neighborhoods.

Stephens County Commissioner Michelle Ivester explained during a recent County Commission meeting that the county decided to take the Polar Express on the road in hopes of bringing out the Christmas Spirit.

Ivester says on Wednesday, December 9, at 5 p.m. the Polar Express will visit Whispering Pines Road, Defoor Road, Hayes-Wilbanks Road, Gumlog Road, and Seven Forks Road.

The Polar Express will also stop at Crossroads Baptist Church, Liberty Hill Baptist Church, Martin Baptist Church and The Pointe Church on Wednesday.

Then on Thursday, December 10, beginning at 5 p.m., the Polar Express will visit Scenic Drive, Falls Road, Braswell Street, Cawthon Road, Old Mize Road, Buena Vista Drive, Freeman Creek Road, Silver Shoals Road, New Hope Road and Leatherwood Road.

Ivester adds that the county will continue its tour next week, beginning again on Wednesday, December 16, at 5 p.m.; the county will visit Lovers Lane, East Tugalo Street, Rosedale Street, Willowdell Drive, and Prather Bridge Road to Tugalo Street.

The County will also stop at Toccoa First Baptist Church, Falls Park, Prather Park, Mulkey Road, Toccoa First Methodist Church, Toccoa Presbyterian Church, Broad Street and Mt. Sinai Church.

To close out the tour, Ivester says on Thursday, December 17, beginning at 5 p.m. they will visit Fernside Drive, Wesley Circle, Foxdale, Crawford Hills, Skyline Drive, Roselane to Rothell Road, Rothell Road, Pebble Creek Drive, Julia Lane, Rothell Road to Swift Street, North Pond Street, Collins Road and Stephens Drive.

Additionally, the Polar Express tour will be used as a collection site for new toys to be distributed to the local Toys for Tots campaign.
