County officials hope to receive reimbursement for storm repairs

In an Emergency Called Meeting, on Saturday, the Stephens County Board of Commissioners approved a motion, signing Stephens County’s Declaration of Local Emergency Resolution in hopes of receiving State reimbursement for the cost to repair the recent storm-damages.

Stephens County Emergency 911 Director Danielle Rhodes says that the resolution will ensure that if there are reimbursements, through GEMA or other agencies, then Stephens County will be in-line to receive a portion of those funds.

Rhodes adds that because of the excessive flooding Stephens County experienced from the downpour of Friday, she estimates $40- $50 thousand worth of damages and the use of man-power to make repairs.

At this time, no word has been released regarding any GEMA funds being allocated to reimburse the counties that incurred damages from the storm.
