County Commission Meeting Today

There will be two public hearings followed by a work session and regular meeting tonight during the Stephens County Board of Commissioner’s meeting.

On the agenda includes the first public hearing on the sign ordinance, which according to County Adiministrator Phyllis Ayers, involve different requirements for billboards.

“One of the most significant things is it pulls out ordinance for billboards separated from all other signs, and so it gives a square footage of 300 square feet for billboards and 75 square feet for all other signs,” said Ayers. “And on page nine, one of the most significant things is that no billboard will be permitted to be constructed on Currahee Parkway and another change is the reduction of the required setback for the sign that I removed 10 foot.”

There will also be a public hearing on the land use ordinance tonight.

Other agenda items for the regular meeting include consideration of zoning requests, consideration to renew the lease agreement with the humane shelter, approval of FY 18 budget amendment for recreation and Sheriff and more.

The meeting begins at 5:30 in the Stephens County Historical Court House and is open to the public.
