County Board of Commissioners to Honor Mark Wilkinson tonight

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet tonight for a regularly-scheduled meeting. 

At tonight’s meeting, the Board will recognize Mark Wilkinson for his service to the county. 

Two applications for alcohol licenses will have their second reading and be considered for approval by the Board at tonight’s meeting – one for a beer and wine license for Chevron Food Mart, 2668 Mize Road, and one for a beer and wine license for 3464 Toccoa LLC., with a business location of 3484 Highway 17 Alternate. 

Three public hearings will be held regarding proposed road abandonments by the county – one for Yorkshire Drive, one for Brookwood Place, and one for Pepper Ridge Drive. 

Under old business on the agenda is consideration of abandonment of Pine Villa Circle. 

Other items on tonights agenda include the reappointment of Michelle Austin to the Toccoa/Stephens COunty Public Library Board of Trustees for a 3-year term; the reappointment of David Holbrook to the Toccoa/Stephens County Airport Authority for a 3-year term; and the reappointment of Kenneth Struble to the Stephens County Board of Tax Assessors for a 3-year term.

Commission Board members will also consider a motion to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Toccoa for Fire Marshal Services, and to approve a hold-harmless agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation regarding a project at the 10.5 mile post of State Route 17.  

Tonight’s meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in the 2nd floor courtroom at the Stephens County Historic Courthouse, 70. N Alexander Street in Toccoa. The public is invited to attend. WNEG News will livestream the meeting on the WNEG Radio Facebook page.
