Continuing our look at the Currahee Military Weekend events

Today, WNEG News continues with our look at the 2023 Currahee Military Weekend, which kicks off today with a 2pm and 7pm screening of the documentary film “the Girl Who Wore Freedom,” at the Historic Ritz Theatre and a book signing and USO Swing Dance tomorrow.

On Saturday, registration continues from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Museum and the Currahee Challenge Run will start at 7 a.m. at the base of Currahee Mountain.

The VFW will serve breakfast at their location on Savannah Street in Toccoa from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, and there will be WWII Encampments and displays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse.

A canteen lunch will be available on Saturday at the Museum from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a Veterans parade will take place in downtown Toccoa starting at 1 p.m.

Saturday events will close out with the Currahee Banquet at Camp Toccoa at Currahee Pavilion at 6 p.m., with guest speaker Marianne Malarkey McNally, daughter of WWII Easy Company member Don Malarkey. Tickets to this event are no longer available. 

On Sunday, at 8:30 a.m. a Lest We Forget service will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the Camp Toccoa at Currahee Pavillion, and the X-Factor Grill on Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa will be serving breakfast.
