Continued Coverage of Latest Grand Jury Indictments

Continuing our coverage of the most recent indictments handed down by the Grand Jury in Stephens County Superior Court:

Cristopher Anthony Shelton was indicted on one count rape, one count aggravated sexual battery and one count sexual battery.

According to the indictment, the charges stem from incidents that occurred in November 2023, when Shelton allegedly committed multiple carnal acts against a female victim against her will. 

Austin Keagan Outz was indicted on one count possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Narcotic) and one count violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

According to the indictment, the charges stem from incidents that occurred in March of this year, when Outz allegedly was in possession of fentanyl while being associated with the Gangster Disciples.

Justin Lee Burrell was indicted on two counts trafficking methamphetamine or amphetamine, one count fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, one count possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to the indictment, the charges stem from incidents that occurred in September 2021, when Burrell, who was convicted in 2015 on felony charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, allegedly was in possession of more than 28 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine, and failed to bring his vehicle to a stop when signaled to do so by a law enforcement officer, and also was allegedly in possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, all while having within arms reach or within his possession a Zigana pistol, a Taurus pistol, a Mossberg Rifle, and a KelTec Rifle.

Derrick Brence Bensch and Jason William Grindle, individually and as parties concerned in the commission of a crime, were indicted on one count armed robbery, once count home invasion, one count aggravated assault, one count exploitation and intimidation of a disabled adult, elder person, or resident, five counts of theft by taking, one count obstruction of an officer, one count possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to the indictment, the charges stem from incidents that occurred in February 2023, when Bensch and Grindle allegedly entered the residence of another individual without his permission and took money, a vehicle, and other possessions of a male victim against his will, and Grindle, who was convicted of a felony charge of possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance in 2021, allegedly struck said victim in the face with a handgun. Bensch allegedly then fled from an officer of the law.

Gary Lamar Patrick was indicted on one count aggravated stalking and one count simple assault.

According to the indictment, the charges stem from incidents that occurred in June 2023, when Patrick allegedly contacted a victim in violation of a temporary protective order for the purpose of harassing and intimidating said victim, and threw a metal object at said victim. 


Hanna Alexia Owens was indicted on one count aggravated assault.

According to the indictment, the charges stem from incidents that occurred in February 2021, when Owens allegedly pointed a handgun at a female victim during a verbal altercation.


Lane Christian Bullock was indicted on one count aggravated assault.

According to the indictment, the charges stem from incidents that occurred in February 2021, when Bullock allegedly threatened a victim with a knife.
