Complaints of drug activity ends with arrest of a Toccoa man

A recent drug investigation ends with the arrest of a Toccoa man.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, the investigation began after his office received multiple complaints of heavy drug activity from residents living on South Alexander Street.

Shirley says through the use of heavy surveillance the Criminal Investigation Division were able to verify that the information received from the complaints were accurate.

Investigators were also able to conduct a controlled buy from 106 South Alexander Street, as a result, a search warrant was obtained for the home.

Shirley says his deputies along with officers from the Toccoa Police Department, executed the search warrant and secured the residence, November 19, without incident.

During the search, Investigators located approximately a quarter pound of marijuana inside the home.

As a result of the findings, a felony warrant was issued for the arrest of Steadman Gober, 29, of Toccoa.

Gober was charged with felony possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. He was later released from the Stephens County Jail after posting a $15,000 bond.

Shirley says that the investigation quickly became a joint effort between the Sheriff’s office and the Toccoa Police Department. Because of that partnership they were able to successfully conduct an investigation, and make an arrest.
