Cleveland man denied bond following Stephens County arrest

A recent traffic stop leads to the arrest of a Cleveland man.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, on December 29, a deputy with his office conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Broad and Currahee streets.

The vehicle was towing a trailer that did not have a tag and had one functioning taillight.

The deputy, according to Shirley, approached the driver, identified as Andrew Harrelson, and advised why he had been stopped.

The deputy noted that Harrelson appeared to be nervous while speaking with him.

During a check of his license the deputy learned that Harrelson was on active felony probation out of White County.

The deputy then asked for consent to search the vehicle and Harrelson agreed.

During the search, Shirley says, the deputy located a hidden compartment, and recovered more than $11,000 in cash and approximately one ounce of methamphetamine.

Andrew Harrelson, 37, was placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

He was transported to the Stephens County Jail.

Shirley says the cash along with the vehicle, trailer, two 4-wheelers, one motorcycle, and all other contents were seized.

Harrelson remains in the Stephens County Jail after his bond was denied.
