City Street Closed Today for Construction

The City of Toccoa has announced that Rice-Lewis-Gilliard Way (the alley between Tugalo Street and Doyle Street) will be closed today from the exit at Sage Street to approximately a third of the way down the alley. A portion of the parking lot will be utilized to stage vehicles for construction work to be completed on the rear of the Cornerstone Antique and Craft Market. This section of the alleyway will be reopened once work is completed.

Work will soon begin to replace the railroad ties near the Sage Street railroad crossing. While the date is fluid, contractors have told the City of Toccoa that the road closure could likely begin on Thursday of this week. The closure should only affect the railroad crossing itself. The road onto Currahee Street will remain open.

WNEG will keep you updated on any future road announcements from the City of Toccoa.
