City of Toccoa plans to begin reopening facilities

The Toccoa City Commission received an update on the city’s plan to begin reopening its facilities during its meeting Monday.

According to City Manager Billy Morse, the city has been working to create a plan to reopen City Hall, the Police Department, the Lake Toccoa Facilities and the Doyle Street Pool.

However, Morse says the city will not open all of its facilities immediately.

Morse says City Court will be held on Thursday, May 14, with cases being staggered throughout the day to limit the number of individuals in City hall.  He adds that Steps will be taken to follow guidelines for sanitizing and distancing. Individuals appearing in Court will only be allowed entrance from the parking deck.

The City Hall drive-through window is now open from 8:00 a.m. until 5 p.m. every weekday.

Morse says City Hall and the Police Department will continue to be closed to all walk-in traffic until June 12.

For the Lake Toccoa Facilities, Morse says Ping’s Grill will continue to be closed with a reopening not expected any time soon; events at Reflections for may have all be canceled and the city is working with those that have June reservations to see if they need to be rescheduled. Morse adds that current plans have The Links Golf Course reopening on May 14.

For the Doyle Street Swimming Pool, Morse says the city is working with Camp Fire Georgia concerning opening the swimming pool; however, that depends on the State of Emergency Declarations concerning the ban on large gatherings.

Morse says the plan is to open the pool on Memorial Day to groups of ten at a time through June 12.

Additionally, Morse says all City-sponsored community events through June have been cancelled or postponed till a later day.

Again, Morse says City Hall and the Toccoa Police Department will continue to be closed to all walk-in traffic until June 12.
