City of Toccoa Keeps 2018 Millage the Same

Toccoa City residents will not see any increase in their property taxes this year.

Monday night, the City Commission voted to keep the current millage as outlined by City Manager Billy Morse.

Morse also gave the Commission an update on when property tax bills would go out.

“Tax bills are scheduled to be mailed September 7 with a due date of November 7, 2018,” Morse said. “This is the same schedule that Stephens County is using for their tax bills. The proposed millage rate is proposed at 6 mills.”

After hearing from Morse, Commissioner Jeanette Jamieson motioned to accept the proposed rate.

“Your Honor I move that we adopt the rate of six mills. I’d like to remark that as the City Manager said, this represents no increase for the last several years in the City’s millage rate,” she said.

The motion was seconded by Evan Hellenga and passed unanimously.
