City of Toccoa enters into intergovernmental agreement with Stephens County for road resurfacing

The City of Toccoa has entered into an intergovernmental agreement with Stephens County to resurface 9 city streets.

Billy Morse told the Commission on Monday about the estimated cost to resurface the list of roads.

“We are proposing that the city enter into an agreement with Stephens County to utilize their road crew to do the work. Their estimate to do the work is $598,000 that leaves $118,000 for the city to patch and repair the streets to be resurfaced. I don’t think that we will need to use all of that money, but what’s left over will be used for future paving projects,” he said.

Morse says the list of roads were decided based on a study that was conducted last year to determine which roads were in the worst condition.

A motion was made by Commissioner David Austin with Commissioner Jeanette Jamieson seconding the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.

During Tuesday’s Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting, the board approved the agreement with the City of Toccoa unanimously.
