Christmas Fest slated for next weekend

Main Street Toccoa’s Christmas Fest is slated to begin next weekend, to kick-off the Christmas season.

Both Friday and Saturday will provide the public with several opportunities to take-in the festivities of the holiday season.

The 8th annual event includes carolers, open shops and restaurants, Santa, a live nativity, the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree on the courthouse lawn on Sage Street, and much more.

Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said this year’s Christmas Fest will have a number of the same activities as in years past.

Crosby added that this holiday season will also feature an ice skating rink open throughout the month of December.

“Toccoa On Ice,” the ice skating rink will be open in the parking lot along East Tugalo Street in downtown Toccoa on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, weather permitting, through December 31.

Hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. on Fridays, 12 to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
