Christmas Fest begins this weekend in Toccoa-Stephens County

Christmas festivities start this week in Toccoa-Stephens County. The jollities will kick-off on Thursday, December 5, with the annual Christmas in the Paul Anderson Park Tree Lighting.

The event starts at 10:30 a.m. and is expected to continue just after 7:00 p.m., it will feature pictures with Santa, a silent auction and the Varsity Food Truck.

Then on Friday, Main Street Toccoa will kick-off its annual Christmas Fest.

Main Street Toccoa’s Event Coordinator Sharon Crosby tells WNEG News about this weekend’s upcoming festival.

Friday’s festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will run until 9:00 p.m.

Crosby says there are many activities which will ignite the Christmas Spirit in all those who attend.

Take in the sounds of the holiday season during this special evening as carollers stroll the streets and stores throughout the evening, serenading the shoppers.

The Festival of Trees is celebrated at the Stephens County Historic Courthouse on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 1 p.m. until 4p.m.

Visitors are asked to vote for their favorite from an assortment of beautifully decorated trees. Admission is free; but, each vote costs $1 with proceeds of the contest going to the charity or nonprofit organization represented.

The winning tree will receive a grand prize sponsored by local businesses.

Musical entertainment is also offered throughout the evening.

Also, on Friday and Saturday, the Christmas Sage Market will be going on at the Star Theatre.
