Child who was a passenger in Monday’s fatal wreck expected to make full recovery

One man is dead and a child was injured in a one-vehicle wreck Monday on I-85.

It happened Monday morning at about 11a on I-85 Northbound near mile marker 157.

According to Franklin County Coroner Scott O’Barr, the vehicle left the roadway and overturned several times.

“Franklin County 911 received multiple calls in reference to a motor vehicle accident on I-85 northbound at mile marker 157. They were receiving calls both of entrapment and serious injury.  When units arrived, they found one male subject deceased and one four-year-old child that was being taken care of by bystanders,” O’Barr said.

O’Barr said the child was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare in Atlanta.

“He did (child) have injuries and the child was transported by helicopter to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The last I spoke with that hospital his injuries were not life-threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery,” he said.

O’Barr said he checked later with the doctors at Children’s Healthcare who said the boy is expected to make a full recovery.

The driver is identified as 42-year old Eric Hall of Philadelphia, PA.

O’Barr said it was a single-vehicle accident and no other vehicles were involved.
