Changes to Stephens County Recycling now in place

Stephens County residents who recycle will soon experience a change.

According to Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers, the County’s recycling program has run into a change after the City’s vendor will no longer take anything except #1 and #2 plastic bottles with necks.

Any other plastic such as bags, swimming pools, strawberry containers, etc. will cause the entire load to be rejected.

Ayers says they are in the process of placing new signs at the two locations; until the signs are in place, she says all of this material will be put in the regular trash bins.
