Celebrate National Business Week

This is National Small Business Week.

Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.

More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.

And here in Toccoa-Stephens County, Chamber Executive Director Julie Paysen said more than half of the businesses here are considered small businesses.

This week, the National Small Business Association will be announcing their Small Business of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year for 2017. Paysen said the Toccoa Chamber does something similar in August.

According to Paysen, small businesses are the economic hub of any smaller town or municipality and that is especially true here in Toccoa-Stephens County.

Paysen encourages all business owners to get involved and become a member of the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce.
