Carter Signs with Vanderbilt

Stephens County football standout, Gamarion Carter, signed a letter of intent on the first day of fall signing period yesterday to attend Vanderbilt University and play for the Commodores football team.  Carter, son of Lakeyta Rousey and Varanessa Marshall, was a 3-tiime All Region 1st team selection at wide receiver for the Indians.

Carter originally had committed to Liberty University in Virginia.  But after yesterday’s signing at Stephens County High School, Carter says he chose Vanderbilt.  “It is in the SEC, they offer great education, and it was just closer to home than Liberty.”

Vanderbilt will have a new coach next season, but Carter said the coaching change did not affect his decision. “I am committed to the school and not a coach in particular.”

Carter had 76 receptions for 1558 yards for an average of 21 yards per catch along with 13 touchdowns in his 3 years of varsity football with the Indians.
