Canberg Recognized as Work-Based Learning Student of the Month

Addison Canberg has been named as November’s Work-Based Learning Student of the Month by the Stephens County Development Authority and the Stephens County High School Work-based learning program.

Canberg is employed at the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter, as it aligns with her future career goals. Canberg is a junior at SCHS plans on becoming a poultry veterinarian. 

Donna West, Shelter Manager said “Addison is always very punctual, and is cordial with everyone. She has a good understanding of what needs to be done each day and wastes no time going about the routine. Addison has a good attention to detail, noticing issues with the animals and bringing them to the attention of the appropriate individual. She has a very pleasant demeanor and an ease about her and we enjoy and appreciate her as part of our team.”

Canberg also excels academically and in her extracurricular activities. She is an active member of the National Technical Honors Society, Beta Club, and Anchor Club. In addition, she is a member of the Auxiliary Corps and has worked diligently to complete the Forest Mechanical Systems Pathway.

According to Josh Brown, one of Canberg’s Ag teachers, “Addison is one of the hardest working students I have worked with at Stephens County. Her unwavering commitment to excellence transforms routine tasks and ambitious projects alike into resounding successes.” 

Another Ag teacher, Hannah Dinkins, added that Canberg is involved in their livestock team and is part of their FFA Officer team as the Reporter. She has also competed in Ag Sales and Meats Judging this year.

The student of the month for November was sponsored by Bulldogs Car Wash & Express Lube, SouthState Bank, and the Stephens County Development Authority.
