Camp Fire Georgia in dire financial need

Camp Fire Georgia is in dire financial need.

Later today, the Board of Trustees of Camp Fire Georgia will host an emergency Zoom meeting for all interested parties.

This meeting will present the current and projected financial state of Camp Fire Georgia, as well as plans to bring “normal” programming back on-line.

These plans are being enacted now but can’t be brought to fruition without a community effort.

While the situation is dire, it is not without hope.

According to Camp Fire Georgia officials, it is dire because Camp Fire Georgia has not been able to operate Summer Residence Camp, its primary source of income, for three years; two due to COVID and one due to being unable to secure sufficient staff to safely operate.

Additionally, deferred maintenance costs have depleted the reserves.

Operationally, the organization will not make it through to summer 2023, without immediate help.

It is not without hope because of people who care deeply about Camp Fire and/or Camp Toccoa.

Officials say together, they can executive a plan to sustain and rebuild.

This will include income diversification, strategic development, and program development.

Once secured, additional plans will be laid so that Camp Fire and Camp Toccoa are never in this position again.

Everyone is invited to join the Zoom meeting; however, to virtually attend, you will need to register to receive the Zoom link.
