Business Briefs – New tire store coming next to Home Depot

Mavis Southeast, LLC, headquartered in Millwood, NY with Georgia operations based in Buford,  purchased 1 acre of property, at 169 Business Circle Drive, adjacent to the Toccoa Home Depot store, on Sept. 21 for $385,000. The property formerly belonged to Home Depot USA Inc. Work recently began to clear the property.  

Mavis Southeast, LLC perates as Mavis Discount Tire. In February of this year, Mavis Discount Tire merged with Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers, creating one of the largest independent automotive service platforms in the U.S, according to automotive industry reports. The company is led by Mavis’ Co-CEO’s, David and Stephen Sorbaro, and Express Oil Change’s CEO Ricky Brooks is the company’s executive chairman.

Merrydale Properties of Rabun County, LLC, has purchased the 6-unit apartment building on 0.32 acres at 291. S. Pond Street. The property, zoned RIII, was listed at $800,000 and sold on Oct. 12 for $741,000.

Also on Oct. 12, Merrydale Properties purchased the duplex at 352/354 Stephen Drive, zoned RII and sitting on 0.26 acres, for $260,600, 7 percent below list price of $280,000.

Both the Pond Street and Stephen Drive properties were purchased by Merrydale Properties from Owenby & Associates of Carnesville. According to tax records, Merrydale Properties has owned several rental units in Rabun county since 2007.
