Breaking: Truist Bank on Jones St. in Lavonia robbed

By MJ Kneiser, WLHR

Lavonia Police are investigating a bank robbery at the Truist Bank on Jones St.

According to Assistant Police Chief Daniel Carson, shortly after 1:16p Tuesday, a black male entered the bank and demanded an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect exited the building, but it’s not known whether he left on foot or got into a vehicle.

“We did have a K-9 track him for a few feet and lost the scent, which leads us to believe he likely got into a vehicle,” Carson said.

The suspect is described as a black male, age unknown, wearing black shoes, khaki-colored pants, a light-colored shirt, and a surgical mask.

That is all the information Police are releasing at this time. Carson said they will release more information as the investigation progresses.

WLHR News will continue to follow this ongoing story and bring you more information as it becomes available.

Meantime, anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact Lavonia Police at 706-356-4848 or your local 911.
