BREAKING NEWS…Walker Found Guilty, Smith Not Guilty in Murder trial

A Stephens County jury has returned with a guilty verdict for Kentavius Walker, and a verdict of not guilty for Demetrius Smith for the death of 18 year old Joel Keyshon Green in the early afternoon of August 8, 2018 on South Alexander Street in Toccoa.

Walker and Smith were tried together for the murder. In addition to the charges of malice murder, Walker was also charged with aggravated assault, and multiple counts of violation of the street gang terrorism and prevention act and possession of a firearm during a commission of a felony related to an incident on Prather Bridge Road in Toccoa on July 26, 2018 when according to law enforcement accounts, 17 year old Spencer Reason was shot twice in the head and once in the arm.

The trial lasted a little over a week. Walker was sentenced Friday morning to Life in Prison without the Possibility of Parole and 10 years to serve consecutively.
