BREAKING NEWS: Suspect in Toccoa’s fatal shooting turns self in

The Toccoa Police Department has announced that Brodrique Simone Dixon, 32, of Toccoa, has been arrested.

Dixon was wanted in connection to the fatal shooting that left one dead, and another injured near Whitman Park on Sunday.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, Dixon turned himself in to the detectives Tuesday morning.

He was processed by the GBI and was transported to the Stephens County Jail where he awaits a first appearance hearing and bond hearing.

As WNEG News reported Sunday, Mize says, Stephens County 911 began receiving multiple calls reporting a shooting on Whitman Street in Toccoa.

When Toccoa Police Officers responded to the scene, they found two male victims injured from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police were able to perform CPR on one victim, identified as 30-year-old Christopher Tukes, of Lavonia, who later succumbed to his injuries at Stephens County Hospital.

The second victim, identified as 34-year-old Scottae Martin, of Toccoa, was transported by EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Martin was treated for his injuries and later released from the hospital.

Detectives with The Toccoa Police Department, along with GBI agents worked the scene and canvassed the neighborhood speaking with possible witnesses during the night Sunday.

Toccoa Fire Department was called back to the scene to provide lighting and assist with processing the scene.

Mize says it appears the incident may have stemmed from a bet on a basketball game at another location and led to an altercation at the Whitman Street Park.

Mize adds that the case is still under investigation.

Detectives and agents are requesting anyone with any information on the case to please call the GBI Tip line at 1-800-597-8477 or CPT Eddie Neal at the Toccoa Police Department at 706-282-3236.
