BREAKING NEWS: Bank Robbery suspect arrested in Chattanooga, Tennessee

The Toccoa Police Department has announced that the bank robbery suspect wanted in Stephens County for robbing the Northeast Georgia Bank in Toccoa on Wednesday has been arrested.

Sidney Alan McCollum, 42, of Pickens County, South Carolina was arrested in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on August 14, around 7:25 p.m.

Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize tells WNEG News a hit confirmation came in to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division giving notification of McCollum’s arrest in Hamilton County, Tennessee.

A BOLO was given out as a possible drunk driver.

A Chattanooga Police Department Officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle pulling into a restaurant, he was taken into custody without incident.

He was still driving the stolen truck from Pickens County, South Carolina that he used in the Toccoa and Gainesville Bank Robberies.

McCollum is being held in Hamilton County, Tennessee.

He will face extradition back to Georgia to Stephens County and Hall County for the robbery charges as well as to Pickens County, South Carolina for the theft and domestic violence charges.
