Bookmobile route manager sought for new route in Stephens

The Northeast Georgia Regional Library System is looking to institute a regular Bookmobile route through Stephens, Habersham, Rabun, and White Counties, and they are seeking a Bookmobile and Outreach Services Manager to spearhead that effort.

The program’s goal is to foster community awareness of library resources in Northeast Georgia by bringing the library to under-served patrons through regular Bookmobile visits, and active participation in community events.

Toccoa/Stephens County Public Library Manager Leslie Allen says a bookmobile, with a regular schedule, could serve many area residents who currently are not able to access the services of the public library.

According to the position listing, the person holding this position will be responsible for establishing a regular Bookmobile route through Stephens and surrounding counties, to include daycares and schools, senior centers, rehabilitation centers, medical facilities, and neighborhoods.

In addition to the regular route, the Bookmobile and Outreach Services Manager will actively seek opportunities to open the Bookmobile at community events and will work with library managers in the system to schedule visits by the Bookmobile for off-campus summer reading programs, or other library events.

The position will work from the System Services Offices in Clarkesville, and will manage all aspects of scheduling, collection development, and operation of the Bookmobile.

This is a full-time position and requires 40-hour work weeks.  Applicants with a Master of Library and Information Science degree, and prior library and PINES experience, are preferred.

The person in this position must demonstrate the ability to work independently.  For more information, visit negeorgialibraries.org.
