BOE considers leaving millage rate unchanged for FY20

The Stephens County Board of Education is considering setting the property tax rate at 16.8 mills for Fiscal Year 2020, reflecting the same millage rate as FY2019.

During its regular scheduled meeting, Tuesday, the BOE voted to approve a tentative budget.

The tentative budget is just over $36.3 million – an increase of less than 2 percent over this year’s budget.

Stephens County School Superintendent Bryan Dorsey said the tentative budget shows the school district spending less money than it receives.

The board unanimously voted and approved the tentative budget.

In the coming weeks, the Stephens County Board of Education will hold two public readings of the proposed FY2020 budget.
