BOE Approves Safety Projects and Athletic Facility Upgrades

The Stephens County Board of Education voted Tuesday night to upgrade the lighting at the Stephens County High School football stadium as well as at the high school baseball and softball fields.

The new lighting for all three fields will cost $780,000 and will be funded through E- SPLOST. Another E-SPLOST-funded expenditure that was approved by the BOE was the construction of a new bullpen for the high school softball field at a cost of $18,200.

In addition, the school board approved the installation of safety vestibules at Liberty Elementary School and at Stephens County Middle School at a cost of $75,434, which will be funded by a state school safety grant.

Also, during the BOE meeting, Wendy South and Crystal Cannon were recognized as the November “Spirit of Stephens” employees of the month.
