Board of Education to officially hire Dr. Franklin as School Superintendent on Tuesday

The Stephens County Board of Education will meet tomorrow in a Special Called Meeting to officially hire Dr. Constance Franklin as Stephens County School Superintendent.

As WNEG News previously reported, Franklin was named the sole finalist for the Stephens County School Superintendent position.

During the meeting on December 13, Chairman Jim Bellamy made the recommendation to the board.

State law mandates the Board of Education hold a 14-day public comment period prior to taking official action appointing Franklin as Superintendent.

Following the 14-day public comment period, and once officially approved, Franklin will fill the position formerly held by Stephens County School Superintendent Dr. Daniel Oldham.

Oldham was reassigned from his duties as superintendent, in August, after the Board of Education announced they wanted to move in a different direction.

Again, the Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. in the Stephens County School District Administrative Building for a special called meeting to officially hire Franklin as Stephens County School Superintendent.

WNEG News will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as they become available.
