Better Brains for Babies Seminar on Saturday

Parents are invited to attend a free seminar called “Better Brains for Babies” on Saturday.

The seminar will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Glad Tidings Assembly of God, which is located at 234 Collier Road in Toccoa.

Stephens County First Steps Georgia Coordinator and Better Brains for Babies Community Outreach Educator Merry Carol Scott will be the instructor.

Topics covered during the seminar will include workshops on brain anatomy, fostering healthy brain development in infants, and the effects of trauma on the developing brains of infants.

Better Brains for Babies was formed in 1998 in order to share new research on early brain development with the people of Georgia.

Fourteen public and private Georgia organizations interested in improving child outcomes formed a collaboration team to guide the Better Brains for Babies initiative.

Partner agencies include University of Georgia Cooperative Extension, Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, Office of Prevention and Family Support, Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family Centers, Bright from the Start, Georgia Department of Early Care, and Georgia Family Connection Partnership.
