Bear sighting on West Currahee Street

Local residents have reported a bear sighting on West Currahee Street.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, the bear was spotted in the area on Sunday afternoon and evening.

He says the bear was spotted near the Habitat Store and Arthur’s Wings.

Mize says, in cases like these Georgia DNR is advising citizens to leave the bear alone and do not try to approach it.

Do not feed the bear and always keep lids on outdoor garbage.

The bear will more than likely move out of the area.
