And last Friday, the Lady Indians soccer team defeated Franklin County to clinch a spot in the state tournament.  Friday’s game was a continuation of the March 26 game that was delayed due to lightning less than 20 minutes into the game.  Friday, the game restarted with about 24 minutes to go and were down by two, exactly how the game was left on the 26th.  Despite windy conditions during Friday’s game, the Lady Indians played a strong game throughout the innings, but were down by 2 at half. In the second half, Julia Knight was taken down in the box, resulting in a successful penalty kick. Knight’s fast feet got her to the second goal.  Reagan Worsley scored the winning goal, with an assist from Knight, and the team advanced to the first round of the state tournament, traveling yesterday to Sandy Creek to play at 6 p.m. WNEG Sports will update this report with the results of yesterday’s game as soon as the coach’s report is available.

The Stephen County High School track team will celebrate senior night at today’s meet, held at home at 4 p.m. and the SCHS Varsity Golf team heads to Orchard Golf Club in Clarkesville to take on Tallulah Falls tomorrow at 3:15 p.m.
