Bank Robber wanted in Toccoa, hits Gainesville Bank this afternoon

The suspect wanted in connection with the bank robbery in Stephens County from Wednesday is believed to be the same individual involved in another bank robbery in Gainesville that occurred this afternoon.

According to officials with the Gainesville Police Department, just after 12 p.m., Gainesville Officers responded to a hold up alarm at Wells Fargo, located on the 1300 block of Thompson Bridge Road.

The Gainesville Police Department say the suspect, passed a note to the teller demanding money. No weapons were used during the robbery.

On Wednesday, Sidney Alan McCollum, 42, of Pickens County, South Carolina, robbed the Northeast Georgia Bank on Big A Road, in Toccoa.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, at approximately 11:57 a.m., Wednesday, McCollum entered the Northeast Georgia Bank, in Toccoa.

McCollum, according to Mize, approached the teller and passed her a note telling her it was a robbery and asked for money. After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect left the bank on foot.
