Autopsy Planned on Human Remains Found in Seneca

Searchers in Seneca discovered more remains Monday in a ravine

In Oconee County, SC an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday on human remains found in Seneca.

More remains were discovered Monday near where the initial bones were found last week.

Seneca Police Chief John Covington said about 35 searchers began looking in the area again Monday morning.

Covington said a team of Seneca Firefighters found more human remains in a tributary creek Monday afternoon in a location off Beech Drive in Seneca just as the search was concluding.

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis tells WNEG News the bones found Monday included the upper torso and head.

Addis said the remains are in a state of advanced decomposition and are presumed to be associated with the remains discovered last week.

Last Monday, June 17, a man walking his dog on Asbury Lane in Seneca called police after his dog had found a large bone.

According Addis, the initial remains were identified as a right pelvic bone and a right femur belonging to a female.

Then on June 19, more human remains were found during a search near Sherwood and Robinhood drives.

Addis told WYFF TV in Greenville that preliminary examinations indicate the remains are those of a Caucasian woman and death most likely occurred within the last few months up to approximately one year.

He said the woman’s height is estimated to be between 5 feet, 1 inch to 5 feet, 7 inches tall and the estimated age range is 25 to 45 years old.
