Autopsy on human remains, in Seneca, reveal few details

The Oconee County Coroner’s Office released new information after an autopsy was performed on human remains found earlier this week.

Coroner Karl Addis called the victim Jane Doe, whose remains were found Tuesday in a creek near Beech Drive in Seneca.

The remains are associated with the other remains found earlier this month nearby on Asbury Drive.

Addis said the remains discovered were in an advanced state of decomposition, so the autopsy was inconclusive and did not provide a cause of death.

He estimated the woman died within the last several months up to less than a year.

Further anthropology studies will be required to assist with the death investigation, which could take weeks or months to be performed, Addis said.

The woman had no teeth and it appeared they had been missing for a while, according to Addis.

She was found wearing an athletic type sports bra, which was a “Be Inspired” brand bra with multiple colors, Addis said.

This line of sports attire once was distributed by Belk Department Store.

The size and colors of this bra was not disclosed by the coroner or Seneca police.

DNA tests have not yet been returned from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division lab, Addis said.
