Applications being taken for help from Salvation Army Angel Tree program

The Salvation Army is now taking online applications from families and caregivers who need help with gifts for their children ages 0 to 12 this Christmas.

The Salvation Army 2021 ANGEL TREE online application is now available to residents in Franklin, Stephens, Habersham, Rabun, White, Union, Lumpkin, Gilmer, Towns and Fannin Counties.

Residents of these counties who are unable to provide clothing and toys for their children for the 2021 Christmas Season are welcome to apply online at saangeltree.org.

Parents, Grandparents, or Guardians with custody of children ages 0-12 are eligible.

On Monday, Salvation Army Toccoa Service Center Director Rebecca Dixon said applications are being taken this month through October 31.

When you go to the website, you will be asked to enter your ZIP code and it will automatically direct you to the Salvation Army office that serves your county.

Again, Parents, Grandparents, or Guardians with custody of children ages 0-12 are eligible.

Toys for Tots will also be providing gifts for children this year but Dixon said you may only apply with one group.

“All applications must be in by October 31st and there should be no duplication between this online application and the Toys For Tots application. Families are not eligible to receive gifts from both agencies,” Dixon explained.

Additionally, Dixon said if you are unable to complete the application online, you may come in person to the Toccoa Service Center of The Salvation Army at 306 East Franklin Street in Toccoa.

“You may come in person to the Toccoa Service Center of The Salvation Army at 306 East Franklin Street in Toccoa Monday, October 18th from 1-3:00; Tuesday, October 19th from 1-6:00 pm and Wednesday, October 20th from 1-3:00 pm,” she said.

Dixon said they hope to help over 200 families, which she said would include up to 600 children, this year.

And the actual angel tree ornaments with a child’s name and gift list for those who want to give to a child will be available beginning in November.

WNEG News will provide more details on how to give to a child this Christmas as the information becomes available.

Again, to sign up online, simply go to saangeltree.org.
