Another Sharp Rise in Covid-19 Cases Statewide

As we move toward the end of 2020, there was another sharp rise in Covid-19 positive cases across the state of Georgia.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, another 5,465 positive cases of the virus were reported on Wednesday, over 11,000 the last two days, bringing the total to 558,177, of those, 41,778 have been hospitalized and the total death count due to complications of the virus rose by 89 since Monday and now total 9,808.

The Georgia Department of Public Health is still reporting 48 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 2,134 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Wednesday afternoon.

The latest report still has Habersham County with 87 deaths and now 3,455 positive cases of the virus.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County has had 21 deaths and 1,622 positive cases, Rabun County is now reporting 1,004 cases and 17 deaths, Hart County is reporting 1,114 cases and 20 deaths, and Banks County is now reporting 19 deaths and 1,124 cases.
