Annual Pre-Legislative Coffee Event set for Thursday

The annual Pre-Legislative Coffee event will be held this week in Stephens County.

On Thursday, State House Representative for District 32 Chris Erwin and 50th District State Senator Bo Hatchett will meet with local business leaders and community members to discuss the issues facing the Georgia General Assembly when the session opens January 10, 2022.

The Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual pre-legislative coffee event beginning at 9 a.m. at the Currahee Club.

The event is sponsored by AT&T and will be moderated by the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee.

One item expected to be discussed when the Georgia General Assembly opens, includes raising the annual cap on the state’s rural hospital tax credit program from $60 million to $100 million.

According to Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce President Julie Paysen, Erwin and Hatchett will both provide updates on the top issues and share their insights to challenges and concerns.

They will also take questions from the audience.

Paysen adds that all community leaders, business owners, Chamber members and citizens are invited to attend.
