Annual Moogy-Que is This Saturday

American Legion Post 104 in Toccoa is hosting the annual Moogy-Que this Saturday. Moogy-Que has been the annual fundraiser for American Legion Post 104 for over thirty years.

Post 104’s William Tucker says the event was started by a local businessman to support American Legion Post 104. ” Moogy Childers was our Assistant Fire Chief here in Toccoa, and we were struggling for some financial aid. Moogy donated our first barbecue and did it for several years. After he passed away, his son Thumper and friend Jeff Bowen cooks. They have the original Moogy-Que BBQ so we named our annual BBQ after Moogy.”

Moogy-Que will be Saturday from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M. The $9 barbecue plates include sandwich, slaw, chips, apple sauce, and drink, and sold on a first come-first served basis at the American Legion Post 104 at 610 East Doyle Street in Toccoa.

There are also homemade desserts available for sale. Tucker says the plates are sold pretty quickly “We do not sell tickets. Last year we sold out before 2 P.M. We have ordered more meat and bread so we would love for you to come by and support our American Legion Post and our youth activities we participate.”

Carry out and curb service is available. For more information on tomorrow’s Moogy-Que contact the Commander of Post 104 William Leverett at 706-886-1073.
