Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a South Carolina man caught with what authorities say was 35-pounds of suspected marijuana in his vehicle.

It happened Monday, August 24, on I-85 northbound.

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas said his deputies were working the Interstate when they spotted a 2000 Chevy Tahoe with a window tint violation.

The car was pulled over near mile-marker 171, and as the deputy spoke with the driver, identified as 54-year old Joseph Bradley Jr of Anderson, South Carolina, he immediately lit up a cigarette.

Thomas said the Deputy asked driver to exit the vehicle and step to the rear and as he stood behind the Tahoe Bradley began to rock back and forth and was speaking and acting like he was confused.

The Sheriff said his Deputy asked Bradley if there was any weapons or illegal contraband present inside the vehicle and he gave a verbal consent to a vehicle search.

Inside the Tahoe, Thomas said his deputy found two large black contractor bags with a large quantity of green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana, weighing over 35 lbs.

Bradley is charged in Franklin County with trafficking marijuana and a window tint violation.

At his first appearance in front of the Franklin County Magistrate Judge Bradley’s bond was denied.
