Alto man charged in Habersham County Arson case

An Alto man has been charged, in connection to a fire, that occurred in Habersham County last month.

According to Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens, the suspect, Curtis William Long, 38, of Alto, has been charged with one count of first-degree arson.

According to State Fire Investigators, Long, allegedly started a fire between 8 and 9 p.m., on May 31, that damaged a mobile home located at 348 Wright Street in Alto.

Long was served an arrest warrant, on Thursday, at the Habersham County Detention Center where he has been held since June 3 on unrelated charges.

State Fire Investigators were assisted with the investigation by the Habersham County Fire Department.
