Tuesday afternoon, there was fire outside of Applebee’s on Big A Road. And according to reports, the fire started in the bushes below the eatery’s exterior Plexiglas sign.

Between 4:30 and 5 p.m., firefighters responded and extinguished the flames.

The cause of the fire has been confirmed by Toccoa Fire Chief Jeff Haslup.

He says the fire is the result of a fallen spark discharged while construction crews used a blowtorch to remove the Applebee’s sign.
